 Ingredients

  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Fresh Pineapple
  • 3 Bananas
  • Plain Yogurt (about 3 cups)
  • 1 Tablespoon Carob Powder
  • 3 Cherries (NO PITS or STEMS)
  • Redi-Whip
  • Crushed unsalted Peanuts
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Directions

There is no exact measurement for this recipe, but I will give you a rough guess of what I did.  I made 3 DIY banana splits and had some extra “ice cream” left over for snacks for later. First we need to make the “ice cream” part of the Banana Splits.  I lined a mini muffin tin with a few mini muffin cups to place our ice cream in. For each flavor, I filled the muffin tin about halfway.  With the Vanilla, I simply used the plain yogurt and scooped it into the muffin cups. And for the Strawberry, I took a handful of chopped up strawberries, smashed them with a fork, and stirred them into 1 cup of yogurt.  This gave us a nice pink color. For the “Chocolate” (Dogs CANNOT have chocolate), we took 1 cup of yogurt and added 1 tablespoon of carob powder. This gave us that “chocolately” look. Once you have filled your muffin tins with all the flavors, place them in the freezer for at least 4 – 6 hours or overnight.

While your doggy ice cream is freezing, we can prepare our other ingredients. You will need a few small chopped up strawberries, a few small chopped pineapple chunks and a few chopped up unsalted peanuts.  Take your banana, peel it, and cut it into 4.  Dogs don’t need to eat a lot of banana, so we are using two quarters instead of two halves.  Place 2 quarters of the banana onto your banana split dish (or on a small plate).  Take your 3 flavors of dog ice cream and place them between the banana. Then, take a small amount of Ready Whip and put it between the dog ice cream.  After that, take your strawberry chunks and place it on top of the pink dog ice cream, and then the pineapple chunks go on top of the white dog ice cream.  Sprinkle just a dash of the crushed up unsalted peanuts over the entire thing, and then place your cherry on top!

That is it!  We have done it!  DIY Banana Split for dogs!  Doesn’t this look awesome!
