The Dog Days of Summer with Swiffer

As most of you already know, we have a house full of shedding dogs. Around our house, we tend to refer to the fur as Husky Glitter!  July and August are usually referred to as the Dog Days of summer, but as we all know, that really doesn’t have anything to do when how much or when your dog is shedding. Summer shedding is by far the worst. Today we are going to share with you the perfect products for cleaning up all the fluffy fur, or dog glitter as we call it, the muddy paw prints, and many other messes. Now is a great time to stock up on Swiffer products at Sam’s Club, such as Swiffer Sweeper Wet and Dry Refills, and Swiffer Dusters, so you are ready to clean up all the fur your dog leaves behind.

The Swiffer Duster

So we have our routine whenever we clean the dog hair and dander in our house. I like to use the Swiffer Dusters first and dust everything I can. The Swiffer Dusters actually lock the dust and dander so you aren’t spreading it all over the house and into the air. I love that you can use these in tight spaces as well. It’s nice to not have to move everything around to dust. It makes it simple and easy!

The Swiffer Sweeper

After dusting, it’s time to grab the Swiffer Sweeper loaded with dry pads and get to work on the floors. As we said, the Dog Days of Summer turn into the Dog Days of Swiffer in our house! The Swiffer Sweeper Dry pads have thick grooves and ridges and are perfect for picking up dirt, dust and pet hair. With the size of our house, and the amount of dogs we have, I usually use 2 – 3 dry pads when doing the entire house. Kira loves to try to chase the Swiffer as we go around the house and clean.

The Swiffer Sweeper Wet Mopping Cloths

After that it’s time to break out the Swiffer Sweeper Wet Mopping Cloths. I love that they fit the same Swiffer as the dry pads, so I can just toss the dry pad, and put a wet pad on. During this process, I always take the dogs outside, so that they aren’t running around on a slippery floor. Swiffer Sweeper Wet Mopping Cloths have powerful dirt–dissolving cleansers and lock away paw prints. I love having these around on rainy days. When the dogs come in with wet muddy paws and run through my kitchen, I can clean up after them with ease.

Besides all of that, I am sure you are wondering about some good tips to help decrease the amount of shedding you will have to clean up in your house. We have a few tips for that as well! Regular bushing of your dog’s coat can drastically cut down on shedding. I also suggest investing in a blower and blowing out your dog’s coat once every two weeks. This releases a lot of trapped dirt, dander, and loose hairs from their coat. Shedding is a part of owning dogs, and it’s always good to be prepared to deal with it. We love our dogs, and don’t mind cleaning up their husky glitter that they leave behind!
