ST. PATRICK’S DAY SHEPHERD’S PIE FOR DOG TREAT DIY Dog Treats Recipe

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, so we thought this would be the perfect time for a St. Patrick’s Day Dog Treat recipe! In the past we have made two different types of Shamrock Treats, so this year we wanted to think outside the box!  Our Irish themed treat for this year is Shepherd’s Pie for Dogs!  This traditional Irish meal has been modified to make it the perfect treat for your dogs to have as they celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with you!

St. Patrick's Day Shepherds Pie for Dogs
Oakley wants to try it!

INGREDIENTS
– 1/2 Pound Boiled Hamburger (or meat of your choice)
– 2 Eggs
– 1/2 Cup Beef Broth
– 3/4 Cup Flour
– 1/2 Cup Frozen Peas
– 1/2 Cup Diced Carrots
– 2 Sweet Potatoes (Mashed)
DIRECTIONS
First you will want to boil your choice of meat (we used lean hamburger).  Drain the water and any greese from the meat, and set it aside.  While that is boiling, cut up your Sweet Potatos, put them in a pan and cover them with water.  Boil until they are soft enough to mash.  Mash them up (don’t add anything), and set them aside. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix together your meat, eggs, broth, and flour.  Then add in your carrots, and peas.  Lightly spray your pan with a nonstick spray.  Spoon your mix into the pan and flatten it out.  Now take your Sweet Potatoes from earlier, and spread them over the top of the mixture.  Place in the oven for 15 – 25 minutes.  You want the pie to be slightly firm.  Let it cool and then serve it to your dogs!

I get asked every time we make a video like this “Can people eat this?”.  Every ingredient that is in this is something people can eat!  Will it taste good?  I guess you will either have to trust your dog, or just try it!
